City of Dover Cross Connection Control Program
ALERT: FAKE TESTING KITS USED TO CON WATER SYSTEM RESIDENTS
The Delaware Office of Drinking Water has found that a growing number of homeowners in the State of Delaware have reported receiving fake water testing kits in the mail – along with questionnaires requesting detailed information about the consumers, their water usage habits, household water equipment etc. After submitting the kits along with their information, consumers are then contacted by businesses who warn them about the poor quality of their water – and then offer to perform a thorough in-home water assessment, free of charge. They then try and sell expensive water softeners and other equipment once they arrive at the residents’ homes.
The City of Dover does not partner with any third-party entities to sell private water testing or water treatment to our customers, nor does the City of Dover provide any rebates or discounts to our customers for installing water treatment equipment on their property. If the City of Dover ever starts using a third-party to collect any water information from our customers you would be notified in advance that this is coming from the City of Dover.
