Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 17 / $19.28 Per Hour (Based on Qualifications)

Job Description:

There’s never been a better time to explore a future with the City of Dover.  We are looking for two motivated individuals to join our Public Works Department as a Motor Equipment Operator I.  The primary duties of this position are to maintain, repair, replace, clean: culverts, swales, catch basins, manholes, inlet grates, etc. Address ponded water issues, leaf collection, snow and ice control, vehicle/equipment maintenance, etc.  The successful candidates will work under a varying degree of supervision.  Normal duty hours are 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.  Overtime is required as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Replace, repair, clean and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure
  • Build, replace, maintenance, install catch basins
  • Lays blacktop and pours concrete as directed
  • Sweeper debris collection and disposal
  • Snow and ice control; emergency weather event attendance required, brine application
  • Operates equipment to transport materials, tools, equipment, or personnel to job sites, load or haul dirt, or pick up debris from job sites
  • Assists with traffic control and provides information to the public if required

Required Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • Requires six (6) months to one (1) year of field related experience or knowledge of
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL permit within two (2) months and CDL license with tanker endorsement within six (6) months is required
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug and alcohol test

A criminal background investigation and driver’s license review will be required. Candidates may be given a job-related test during the interview.
