Salary range: DOE Labor Grade 18 / $20.05 Per Hour

Job Description:

The City of Dover is currently looking for an energetic, cross functional, motivated, and experienced teammate with great interpersonal skills for the position of Customer Service Clerk I. The essential function of the position is to provide positive customer assistance to the customers of the City of Dover, perform clerical and accounting tasks relating to various City services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Answers questions, assists with problem/complaint resolution, or directs customers to the appropriate personnel.
  • Interacts with the general public via telephone, email, written correspondence, and in person.
  • Process various requests regarding municipal, tax, and utility services.
  • Assists the billing & collections and meter reading departments with various tasks, work order entry, payment arrangements, customer refund requests, and payment processing functions.
  • Maintains data/information for area of responsibility and prepares routine reports.
  • Performs routine office tasks such as data entry, filing, processing mail, faxing, photocopying, scanning & emailing.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with the equivalent of one year of college or specialized vocational training in computer operations and office skills.
  • Three months of related experience in customer service and accounting or bookkeeping.
