REGULAR MEETING

                                                                                                                        September 14th, 1942

            The Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 14th day of September, 1942. The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Woodford presiding and on roll call the following members answered “present”: Messrs. Millman, Keith, LeFever, Downes, Hartnett, Burton, Vane and Hinkle.

MINUTES

            Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Downes, the reading of the minutes of the last Regular and Special Meetings was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

            The City Manager’s report for the month of August was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Millman.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Hinkle, the City Manager was authorized to make the necessary adjustments in the payrolls for the City employees.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton, the City Solicitor was instructed to draw an ordinance which would protect the people in residential districts against storing of materials on vacant lots.

FINANCIAL REPORT

            The financial report for the month of August was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Millman.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

            The Alderman’s report for the month of August was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hartnett. A check amounting to $243.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 17 arrests.

POLICE REPORT

            The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle.

COMMITTEES

            Mr. Karl Dorzback, Sr. appeared before Council asking that the City rebate the taxes which were levied against that portion of the building on Loockerman Street which is being used as a Soldier’s Service Center, explaining that the building is being given, rent free, by Mrs. H. D. Dorzback. Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Dowens, Council instructed the City Manager to rebate 80%of the tax levied against the building used as a Soldier’s Service Center from January 1st, 1942, to the time when the S. S> C. vacates the property.

APPROPRIATION TO THE DOVER SCHOOL

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Keith, the City Council appropriated $100.00 per month for six consecutive months to be paid to the Dover School for the use of their building for community activities.

            Council adjourned at 9:15 P. M.
