REGULAR MEETING

June 12, 1944

            The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 12th day of June 1944. The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call, the following members answered “Present”: Messrs. Downes, LeFevre, Keith, Hartnett, Burton, Vane and Hinkle.

MINUTES

            Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle, the reading of the minutes of the last Regular Meeting was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

            The City Manager’s Report for the month of May was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Vane and Hinkle.

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, City Manager was authorized to furnish current or the American Legion Carnival, making the necessary hook-up. The charges for this current to be made as follows: If the proceeds from the carnival are to be received 100% by the American Legion, no charge is to be made; however, if outside interests such as the Carnival Company is to receive a port on of the proceeds, full charge is to be made for the current used and the American Legion refunded by the City that portion of the charges consumed by them.

SALARY

            Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Vane, the City Manager was authorized to adopt the following wage scale which was recommended by him: For second class linemen, $39.00 per week; for ground men on line crew, $35.00 per week.

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, City Council authorized City Manager to increase the salary of Thomas E. Baker from $35.00 to $40.00 per week.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, City Manager was instructed to advertise for sale, all delinquent 1941 & 1942 Property Taxes.

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, City Manager was authorized to spend $1,050.00 for Transite Pipe to be used as conduit for the underground wiring of street lights on Loockerman St.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

            The Alderman’s Report for the month of May was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hartnett.

            A check for $188.75 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 24 arrests.

POLICE REPORT
           The monthly report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith.

COMMITTEE

            Mr. John MacDonald appeared before Council in behalf of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, presenting a resolution adopted by the Junior Chamber of Commerce at their last Regular Meeting. Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Keith, City Council voted that this resolution be received and acted upon favorably.

            Council adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
