SPECIAL MEETING

                                                                                                                        November 2nd, 1936

            The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Keith, Frear, Vane, Millman, Downes, Hinkle and Burton.

PURPOSE OF MEETING

            The purpose of this meeting was for Council to decide what could be done in order to induce a new industry to locate in Dover. The firm in question is the International Latex Corporation of Rochester, New York, manufacturers of rubber specialties. They request that the City furnish them a deed to the Romeo property, free taxes and electric and water services for ten years. They in turn will locate in Dover, bring ten men and five women with them and employ about 150 local people to start with. The salaries paid for common labor begin at from $9.00 to $12.00.

            After some discussion, upon motion of Messrs. Frear and Hinkle, the Mayor was authorized to appoint a committee of two Councilmen, City Manager, City Solicitor and three members of the Chamber of Commerce to meet to see if they could find some way to finance this proposition legally in order to get this plant to locate in Dover, this committee to report to the City Council at their regular meeting on Monday, November 9th.

            Council adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
